thats you Mother
In my round nose
My thin lips,
In the delicate aroma of my rasam
In the charred remains of the curry
(distraction INDEED was no good)
In clothes well folded
And those strewn about for tomorrow’s care
(do it right and now)
In the perfect lines of a rangoli
(that little appreciative glance)
And the less than perfect dress stitched
(what is this bagginess?)
In a well kept home
In the memory of my toddler scolded
(of course she will throw things about)
The shimmer of the newest leaves
(didn’t your whole being shimmer along?)
In some wisdom imparted
(mark my words…)
And in the lessons you left for Life to teach me.
(that mysterious silent smile)
Aren’t you in All that is caring,
In learning, in yearning
In holding on
In letting go
In fear and in comfort
In prayer and in achievement?
A big hug to you Mother!
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
