Nth Innings not out

Upon his back
Shrouded in serenity he lay
Ready to Rest in Peace
Or so I thought
When I tapped him gently with a broom
To decide his fate
To seal his fate
With my weapon
And his helplessness

In a jiffy
He was up
Describing crazied circles
Frenzied ovals
Now spinning like a top
Now whirring like a toy boat
And before I could find my feet,
he had found his-
Stretched and straightened his limbs
And while my dazed mind dozed
He was already gone
At a hundred and thirty an hour
Into
what? where? when?

Kudos I said
To Nature’s marvel
Her polished pièce de résistance
Her showpiece of timeless resilience
Now taking life lying low
Now riding life’s crest
As Wisdom dictates
As Evolution states
Into his Nth innings
And still winning

The never-say –die
Cockroach
